Everyone is entitled to either a burial service (funeral), or to have their ashes buried in their local parish churchyard by their local parish priest, regardless of whether they attended church or not. The Church of England's funeral services can follow a flexible format. The parish churchyard is closed to new burials, but the ashes of your family member can be buried in an area known as the 'Garden of Remembrance'. Please note, that the erection of memorials are covered by strict laws, and the vicar has to ensure they are kept. Please contact the vicar to discuss any aspect of funerals, burial of ashes or churchyard memorials.
